Thirty of our 9 - 12 yr olds travelled to Potters Bar to represent Watford at the Tape Gala, a Team Gala

held by Potters bar Swimming club annually. The team was made up of of some of our most most

experienced under 13's,and some first timers to the gala scene.

We were against some strong opposition, namely Bishops Stortford, Hoddesdon, Berkhampstead and

two teams from Potters Bar, but this did not phase our youngsters.Every race they all put their heart

and soul into it and were rewarded time and time again with  tremendous wins both in the individual

events and the Relay events. By the end of the evening out of the 47 races we had won 17, Placed 2nd in 17

and Placed 3rd in 9. What a result and it bodes well for for the Peanut's league later in the year.I could not

single out any swimmer as they all swam so well so I will name them all as they all deserve a massive pat on

the back.

Charlie Taverner.

I would like to say that though you all swam fast, I was impressed how good all your strokes looked, I

saw dolphin kicks underwater on both start and turns. I saw the Butterfly swimmers breathing every two strokes

and the Freestylers getting their heads down and breathing only once or twice in the length and kicking

fast, the backstrokers getting their arms in and out of the water quickly and like the Freestylers over

kicking and finally the Breaststrokers performing a powerful underwater stroke which brought them up

ahead of the opposition - This is what a coach is looking for-good technique which will take you forward

in your swimming career to achieve your goals.

I would also like to mention the great team spirit on poolside, the swimmers when not racing lined the

side of the pool and cheered on their team mates which was fantastic so WELL DONE all of you,

you made your coaches proud.

Parents if you would like to see the plate we were awarded with please look in the trophy cabinet

and remember it was your child/children who helped bring this home to Watford.
