Watford Swimming Club

Watford Swimming and Water Polo Club was established in 1901 and is based at Woodside Leisure Centre, Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Originally meeting at the river in the lower part of Watford, near Bushey Arches. In 1932 we moved to the Watford Central Baths which at the time was the only municipal covered pool in the county until after the war.

The club aims to promote swimming locally, in an atmosphere where all swimmers can experience the fun of competition and reach their full potential. Swimmers will be able to compete at their own ability level and go as far as possible from club to county to national standard and beyond.  Watford club provides an atmosphere where members will find swimming an enjoyable and sociable experience, where the club will become a way of life and members will find friends for life.  As well as the swimming side of the club there is a good social side with trips, discos, evenings out etc as well as open meets away in which there is time for fun after the swimming is over.

The Club is affiliated to the Eastern Region Amateur Swimming Association and the Hertfordshire Amateur Swimming Association. There is also a polo club which is affiliated to L.W.P.L, ERASA and the Herts ASA. Watford's colours are Red and Blue.

WSC County Qualifier Report

Watford swimmers came away from the January WSC County Qualifying Gala with medals, a record 138 Personal Best times, and County and Regional Qualifying times having been achieved.  The event, which was generously sponsored by The Prince of Bengal Restaurant based in Cassiobury, attracted swimmers from some twenty clubs. With swimmers travelling from as far as Milton Keynes, this has become a highly competitive event.

Congratulations to Fiona Holmes and Bethany Craig, both just 9 years of age, and Marcus Kemp and Matthew Redjeb, both 10, who took full advantage of the opportunity to qualify for events at their first County Championships to be held in March.
