South Herts Trophy Winners 2018

Last night Watford had a great evening at the Potters Bar hosted South Herts Trophy .
Competing against teams from Berkhamsted , Hoddesdon and Potters Bar it was a great chance for some of our younger swimmers to get race practice ahead of Peanuts .
The event was great fun and all the swimmers enjoyed themselves and it was nice to come home as winners . Well done to all the clubs that took part , there were lots of close races .
Gemma Nottage our Girls Junior Captain along with two of our youngest swimmers Nathan and Cailin collected the trophy . Team Photo has been added to the photo carousel

Congratulations to Willianm Fawcett & Amy Harper for being invited to take part in this years development camp. It is over three days (April, June and September), and is for those born in 2007 and selection was based on performance at County Champs. 30 swimmers have been selected from across the county.

Well done Amy and Will on your selection , make the most of the camp and spread the learnings to your team mates and Coaches.

Reputable representatives!

A very well done to all the Swimmers that threw their “caps” in to the ring (water?) and were selected to represent the Watford & District Swim team this year. What else would a teenager want to do on a wet Friday night in March other than dive in to a pool to represent their local area? Once the AOE had been tamed it was all systems go. Then stop. Then go again! All swimmers were a credit to their respective clubs and schools on this occasion. Watford Swimming Club provided 9 boys and 8 girls attending local schools.
The girls were: Gemma Nottage, Megan Worley, Sofia Peccei, Maggie Fleet, Francesca Peccei, Shannon Nichols, Eden Lashley & Tori Pope.

The boys were: Luke Flynn, Enzo Lim, Charlie Taverner, Daniel Ord, Patrick Kovar, Ben Green, James Pope, Harrison Lees & Matthew Redjeb.

Overall the Watford & District team came second to St Albans (whose team included our very own Arvin Rodriguez), with the Junior Boys & Intermediate Boys winning their respective trophies, which was a great achievement. There were many good times recorded on the night, lots of medals won and a good positive vibe from all the Watford swimmers. Swam @ The Venue- 3rd March 2018

Firstly, a  BIG THANK YOU to all the helpers who came onto poolside for the first time and with your patience and enthusiasm for all the swimmers we had a very succesful Gala. I hope it was not too daunting; We want you back !! Without you we cannot run these exciting events.
Secondly,  Well done to all the swimmers who swam, a 100% turn out which was excellent taking into account the extreme weather conditions this past week. A special thanks to swimmers and parents of School of Swimming who braved the cold and the new venture.
Everyone did us proud.

We began the Gala with two superb 1st places. Then the law of averages came into play. There were 6 First places in all, of which for three individuals it was their first ever gala. One of our Team relay squads had 2 swimmers swimming for the very first time so did brilliantly.
The racing was close between the Top 3 teams in most events, Watford went on to gain 12 x 2nd placings and 16 x 3rd placings and due to our 100% turnout managed to enter full teams in all events gaining points all round.
All the relays were exciting culminating in the Squadren Race which finishes most Team Gala's. Eight Swimmers from different age groups combining in one single race. Watford and Potters Bar Blue were neck and neck for 6 legs then Potters Bar began to gain speed with their bigger and probably more experienced swimmers. The noise was as intense as ever and Watford battled to the very last centimetre coming in 2nd. What a great way to end the Gala.
The end result saw that only 6 points seperated the Top 3 Teams with Watford coming in 3rd.
Swimmers listened and put in their best effort.
Well done to you all.
