Well that was fun!
On Saturday night, Watford swimming club took part and hosted the first round of this year’s Arena league. For those of you who don't know what the arena league is, it is a National Club Competition. All over the country clubs compete against each other swimming the same programme of races. The more points that a club scores in each round the higher up the league they place, similar to the football leagues.

Qualifying times and Schedules are out for the 2017 East Region Long Course Championships to be held at Luton Inspire Pool for the 15yr olds & Over and at Norwich Sportspark for 14yr olds & under.

Dear all

On behalf of Herts ASA and the team organising the Luton junior inter-county entry a big thank you to swimmers, coaches, officials and to all parents for their support before and during the event.  Herts came 3rd overall and were up against some stiff competition.

Dear all

As we have come to the end of the swimming season, I thought I would give you a brief summary of how this season has gone.

Before I do, I would like to say a big thank you to swimmers, parents, coaches, committee and anyone else connected with Watford swimming club. You have made my first year a fun filled one and it has been/is a pleasure to be your Head coach.

The end of season Summer Nationals are upon us. Three Watford Swimmers have produced fantastic times to qualify for this years Event.

I Hope you'll join us in wishing Louis Hines, Harrison Lees & Erin O'Meara the best of luck over the next week in their quest for national recognition.

Louis is returning to Ponds Forge after narrowly missing out on a medal in the British Nationals last week.

Go Team Watford!!

11 of our bravest swimmers took part in the Regional Open Water Championships this weekend, from some of our most experienced swimmers through to some first-timers!

Marcus, Shannon and Connor took part in the 3km event first of all. All 3 raced very well, with the boys in their first open water events. Conor finished in a respectable 11th place in his age group, Marcus in 10th place and Shannon in 12th place. Shannon also secured gold in her age group in the county, and Marcus secured qualification to the National Open Water event next week in Sheffield!

Our youngest swimmer, Jess, made her Open Water debut in the novice 800m event, and after a storming start, finished in 21st place, which placed her 4th in the 11/12 year old age group in the county - not bad for someone who is yet to actually turn 11 this year!

Fleur and James were next to take to the lake, in the tougher 1.5km event. Both were first-timers to this event, James in his first ever swim and Fleur stepping up a distance after taking part last year in the 800m. Both had fantastic starts and strong swims throughout to finish in 21st and 32nd, which placed them 5th (Fleur) and 8th (James) in the county.

The final event of the day saw our Open Water veterans, Harrison, Louis, Steven and Tori take part in the gruelling 5km event. The boys had a fantastic battle in their race, with Harrison finishing first out of the three, and Steven chasing Louis down into the finish, only to be beaten on the touch. The boys finished in 1st, 2nd and 6th place, claiming two golds and a silver in their County age groups in the process.

Tori had a strong swim in the girls heat, despite a small knock right at the start of the race, but she kept her pace throughout and finished in 4th place. This was enough to secure her a gold medal in her age group for the county too!

Overall some stunning results from our swimmers, and for some a fantastic end to what has been an incredible season. Well done all!
