Diet data

We're always hearing about how eating too much fat is very unhealthy for you, but before you try to cut out as much fat as possible, you should remember that if you don't have a certain amount of fat in your diet, you lower your intake of vital nutrients such as vitamins A, D & E and miss out on essential fatty acids.  These help prevent or control lots of health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, arthritis, skin complaints and PMS.
Research also shows that if you try to avoid fats completely, you will end up eating even less healthily because you will replace the missing fats with sweets and sugary junk foods.  So keep your diet balanced - cut back a little on saturated and trans-fats found in cakes, biscuits and processed foods and replace them with essential fatty acids and monounsaturated fats found in nuts, olive oil, avocado and oily fish.

It’s A Knockout

WOW! What a day, the sun shone, the water flowed, poured and sprayed not just at the tin cans! The kids slid (and ate), the adults drank and laughed. Great fun was had by all.
The team work was fantastic, each team cheered their team-mates (when they weren’t having a water fight with the supper-soakers!) and supported each other really well.
The winning team was the dark blue team “DAJRAC” made up of Jessica, Rebecca, Alice, Conor, Dean and Alex.
Thank you everyone especially the parents who help run and control each game.

Water Polo

Watford had a difficult June suffering two Herts. League defeats, in the first game we lost to close rivals Bedford 12-15 at home and in the second we lost away to Ealing 11-13. In both games Watford had chances to win. The defeats now leave Watford second in the Herts. League table trailing league leaders Bedford by some 12 points however we do have five games in hand so they is still every chance we can win the League title.
In the London League Watford defeated Hammersmith Penguin’s away 7-6 to hold on to third spot.
In the annual Biggleswade Water Polo tournament held last week, Watford the holders of the title for the last two year’s failed to make the final for the third year in a row after defeat by Kettering in the semi-final stages. Biggleswade won the tournament defeating Kettering in the final 4-1.
The next games for Watford’s senior team in July is a London league home game against Bexley on the 13th followed by Herts. League games at home to Cambridge on the 20th and Bedford away on the 29th.
